Norden. United.

Aurora Center is a think tank creating pathways toward a united Norden. Our vision is a unified region that appreciates the uniqueness of each Nordic country while amplifying their common Nordic light.

Through research, advocacy, and institution-building, we work across domains and borders in business, politics, and culture to shape the future of the Nordics.

In the language of philosophical logic, ‘□’ signifies necessity and ‘◊’ possibility. Our logo combines the two. We believe Nordic unity is not only a necessity but also a horizon of possibility. It is a shared imperative for our continuity while opening a space of potentiality.

For Aurora Center, unification is not simply a one-time event—it is also an open-ended process that unfolds in culture, politics, the economy – and the collective psyche. We work toward concrete milestones, but always with the understanding that unification is never finished.

"I share the Aurora Movement's vision of the potential benefits of a Nordic Confederation, the security and prosperity benefits it might bring about, but also the the social and cultural values that such co-operation would deepen and entail. I wish Aurora all success, and a large following in the Nordic countries."

“The world faces problems that can only be addressed through international cooperation …at the same time as the appetite for cooperation among the great powers and some medium powers has declined. How do we regain the habit of cooperation? It makes sense to start where the cooperative instinct reflects a core value. That is why the initiative of the Aurora Center is important and worth supporting.”

"Jean Monnet understood that economic integration is the road to a peaceful and unified Europe. In a similar spirit, the idea of fostering a unified entrepreneurial ecosystem holds great promise as a vehicle for building on the shared values in Norden. This project has the potential to enhance the innovation capacity of all the Nordic countries. It would thereby strengthen the Nordic economy as well as the political role that Norden can play in Europe and globally. Economically and politically this could become an exceptionally exciting and important project for enhancing Nordic integration."

”In an increasingly multipolar world, the need for Nordic collaboration has never been more urgent. Fostering a unified Nordic ecosystem—spanning entrepreneurship, innovation, and shared values—can serve as a vital strategy for resilience and influence. By deepening economic ties and leveraging collective strengths, the Nordic countries can not only boost their global competitiveness but also assert a stronger political and moral leadership in Europe and beyond. ”

  • Trust is the beating heart of Norden. Not only interpersonal trust, but social, institutional and above all, metaphysical trust. It’s not passive—it’s generative. We believe investing trust in others inspires trust. A unified Norden multiplies our foundation of trust, creating a deeper, stronger culture of care, a true Nordic community.

  • Norden thrives by resisting the lure of extremism—be that political, economic or cultural. Norden is moderate. We call this the capacity to hold the center: the quiet strength of balance  and principled pragmatism. In an age of polarization, this is a radical stance. Moderation is not just a remedy for division – it’s what makes it possible for a larger portion of our society to flourish.

  • We are defined by how we relate to the Other. We believe the Nordic mode of being is to be “for” something rather than being “against” something—to engage, to listen, and to care actively rather than reactively. We champion being interested–not only in the self, but in each other and in the shared future we can build.

Our drive to unite the Nordics arises from this Ethics of Eros.
